Luther College to host inaugural Adult Dorian Choral Retreat ‘Livssang’

The Dorian Choral Retreat, in its inaugural year, will be hosted at Luther College from June 29 through July 1 with the culminating event, “Livssang,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

A presentation of all the choral music rehearsed throughout the weekend, “Livssang” provides a musical finish to the Dorian Choral Retreat. “Livssang” is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Designed for Luther alumni, music educators, church musicians, career musicians and anyone who just loves singing, the goal of the weekend is to be a musical retreat, a way to recharge batteries, an opportunity to take a break from everyday life, and a time to explore Decorah and Luther College.

The Dorian Choral Retreat, available to anyone interested who is at least 19 years of age, has a fee of $100 with no on-campus housing over the retreat, or $150 with a single, air-conditioned room Friday and Saturday night on campus. A $10 discount is offered to people who are coming with a roommate. Registration for the retreat is available at https://tinyurl.com/choralretreat.

The weekend features a keynote speech by guest musician Tom Trenney and a breakout session led by Luther alumna Karen Brunssen. The Luther choral faculty will lead other breakout sessions and the rehearsals, featuring Andrew Last, Jennaya Robison, Mark Potvin, and Jill Wilson.
