Working at the Sojourner shelter in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Luther senior Elena Dooley, spent her summer collaborating with volunteers and supporting victims of domestic abuse.

On the coast of Israel in a city rooted in history, Luther College junior Robert Muller worked as a junior staff member with the Caesarea Ancient Harbor Excavation Project. As he partook in educational opportunities, Muller participated first-hand in a major archaeological excavation. He dug and sifted through the remains of Caesarea Maritima while he used radar mapping and analyzed pottery.

Examining sleep study records and sleep behavior disorders, Luther College senior James Conway spent the summer working at the Center for Sleep Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Practicing programming and communication skills, Luther College senior Rafael Lopes Broseghini spent his summer working at Colony Brands in Monroe, Wisconsin.

Luther College junior Sarah Eachus traveled to Hillside, Colorado, to intern at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, where she served as a counselor with children ages 6-18. She was involved in planning, executing and supervising different activities, as well as traveling to different churches around the Rocky Mountain Synod to work with elementary age children in both large and small group settings.

John Kuntz believes that there is an importance in telling stories and sharing experiences. In his research, he has been able to reinvent the story of “The Little Match Seller” from H. C. Anderson’s short story, to his own, with the collaboration of some fellow students. He spent his summer at Luther College creating the musical “Matchgirl.”

Luther senior Zakithi Nkosi of Manzini, Swaziland, spent the summer as an intern at Premium Solutions.

Assisting in the intensive care unit, Luther College senior Philip Bagnoli spent the summer interning at Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi, India.

Betel Bedada, Luther College senior, traveled to Coralville, Iowa, to intern for the company GEICO over the summer. This internship allowed Bedada to develop business leadership skills and gain insight about the way that GEICO runs as a company.

Uncovering layers of ancient history, Luther College senior Alex Aakre spent four weeks of his summer assisting in the excavation of a shipping complex in the Western port of Corinth, Kenchreai, Greece. Aakre, son of Teresa and Warren Aakre of Onalaska, Wisconsin, is a 2015 graduate of Holmen High School. He plans to graduate from Luther in 2019 with a major in history.
