Gandhi Day Teach-In

In commemoration of the 154th anniversary of M. K. Gandhi’s birth, this teach-in will provide some context for Gandhi’s creation and deployment of the concept of satyagraha; his translation of this concept as “soul force” for an Anglophone audience; and the appeal of “soul force” to Civil Rights workers in the United States. We will also explore the degree to which Gandhi’s ideas might work in our daily lives and at moments of crisis.
