CELT: Expanding the Classroom – How to use Luther’s Natural Areas in ANY Course (M. McNicoll)

July 17, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Did you know that Luther has nearly 700 acres of natural areas? Did you know that our natural areas can be incorporated into lesson plans from any discipline across campus? Whether it is a walk through the prairie discussing a reading, or a series of class visits to paint the shores of the Upper Iowa, Luther lands can be an extension of any classroom.
Join Molly McNicoll and special guests to explore our natural areas and think about ways all of us might use them in class activities. Natural areas can add context. They can offer a setting for a class discussion. They can offer a focus for a lesson plan. All faculty are welcome to this collaborative, extended workshop. Lunch will be provided. Participants who complete and submit a lesson plan stemming from this workshop will receive a grant-funded stipend.
