The connections Luther alumni have with their Alma Mater, classmates, faculty and friends are important. With more than 35,000 alumni living from Connecticut to California, Malta to Malaysia, and Norway to Namibia, this is the place where you will find the resources you need to keep your lifelong alumni, faculty and friend connections vital.
The Luther College Alumni Office and our alumni volunteers sponsor programs and events to bring Luther College alumni together on campus, all across the country, and around the world. We strive to keep our alumni connected to one another, and to the Luther community.
Karla Bloem '94, Executive Director of the International Owl Center
Each year during the International Festival of Owls, Karla hosts an international children’s owl art competition. Thousands of owl drawings, watercolors and pastels come in from all over the world, including Ukraine.
“When war broke out in Ukraine, we shared some images of the owl artwork created by children from Ukraine on our social media and in our e-newsletter, stating that we hoped the young artists were safe,” said Bloem. “We received a strong response from people who were so moved by the art, and many asked if they could purchase it.”
Bloem located more than 300 pieces of Ukrainian art. More than $222,000 was raised, with all proceeds going to UNICEF to help the children of Ukraine.
