Luther faculty and staff panel to discuss stories of failure

Luther faculty and staff panel to discuss stories of failure

A panel of Luther College faculty and staff are hosting a roundtable discussion about their experiences with failure and the growth that can come from hardship. The panel’s discussion begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall.

Following the event, a reception will be held in the Center for Faith and Life Qualley Lounge. Both the event and the reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.

The panel of Luther faculty and staff features Eric Berg, mail center courier; Stu Johnston, counseling services counselor; Mark Potvin, instructor in music, and Stephanie Travers, associate professor of psychology. Joe Breitenstein, associate professor of psychology, will moderate.

Drawing inspiration from Brené Brown, New York Times best-selling author of Rising Strong, the panel’s objectives are to destigmatize failure and emphasize failure as a learning tool. The faculty and staff on the panel are sharing their own stories of failure as well as their understanding of the positive outcomes of personal struggle.

This event is sponsored by Luther’s Center for Ethics and Public Engagement, Counseling Services and Active Minds.

A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,005, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs. For more information about Luther, visit the college’s website: http://www.luther.edu.
