‘Just Passing Through’

Alumnus Robby Scott, class of 2013, will be on campus Monday, Oct. 9, giving two presentations about his postgraduate work.

Scott will first speak at 9 a.m. in the Center for The Arts, Room 203, and will also speak at 11 a.m. in the Center for the Arts, Room 215. Both presentations are open to the public with no charge for admission.

His visit is co-sponsored by the Luther Art Galleries, the Art Program and the Career Center.

The presentations coincide with “Just Passing Through,” an exhibit by Scott, which is on display through Sunday, Oct. 8, in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts. The gallery features paintings and 3-D objects. Using trauma and personal experience, Scott’s works are the catalysts for remembered emotional experience. Using those fragmented moments, Scott aims to create a bridge between the physical and psychological experience.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts from Luther in 2013. He went on to get his Master of Arts from the University of Iowa in 2016 and is working on his Master of Fine Arts from UI as well. He received the 2016 Mildred Pelzer Fellowship Award from the University of Iowa and was named Best in Show from ArtHaus in Decorah in 2013. Scott has had several exhibitions, including a solo show at ArtHaus in 2014, as a part of the ArtHaus Young Emerging Artist Competition from 2011 to 2013 and a solo show while a student at Luther.

A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,050, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs. For more information about Luther visit the college’s website: http://www.luther.edu.
