Accommodations
Students with disabilities can request academic, housing, or dining accommodations through an application process that includes student's self-disclosure, intake interview, and timely submission of detailed documentation of a disability.
The accommodation process is a two-person relationship between the student and Disability Services. Students are encouraged to be advocates for themselves in this process.
Types of Accommodations
Academic Accommodations support the classroom experience and learning. There are a wide variety of accommodations related to the classroom, such as testing, alternative formats, or notetakers.

Housing Accommodations support the living environment. Examples of these may be a single room or an emotional support animal (ESA).

Dining Accommodations support the dietary needs of the student. Examples may be modifications to the on-campus meal plan or allergy management.

Student Rights and Responsibilities
Students have both rights and responsibilities during the Accommodation Process.
Students have the right to:
- Be an integral part in their accommodation process
- Request more information
- Receive their accommodations from their faculty
- Appeal a decision regarding their accommodation
- Participate equally in all programs provided by Luther College
Students have the responsibility to:
- Be an advocate for themselves in the accommodation process
- Communicate with Disability Services
- Communicate with anyone who might be part of the process of ensuring their accommodations are met
- Conduct themselves in a manner which upholds the Luther College Code of Conduct found in the Luther College Student Handbook.
