About the Camp

Directed by Coach “Billy” Huebner, the camp is designed for the “Big Man” and the heavyweight, from Junior High to High School heavyweights. This camp is for you! You will learn from the Luther College staff what it takes to be a great “Big Man” on the mat! Big wrestlers have different needs. The “Big Man’s” program will focus on the technical needs of larger wrestlers.

The camp includes daily competition, instruction and hard wrestling. Counselors will be current Luther upper weights wrestlers. We emphasize modified technique for the Big Man. This includes matches, formal instruction, supervised drilling, Big Man Tournament and several hours of daily mat time. Upper weights wrestle differently; let us give you the edge. All wrestlers will receive three workout t-shirts, shorts, water bottle, team picture, individual photo, swag bag, and a folder with workout plans.

Includes the Big Man Tournament for Grades 6 –12.

Each day will consist of 3 to 4 hours of technique instruction and drilling, followed by a question and answer period, and ending with an intensive live wrestling session.

Wrestlers will be matched according to age and ability level.

There is a limited enrollment so each camper will have an ideal camper-to-clinician ratio (approximately 10:1) and receive plenty of individual instruction.

This camp is open to those who have the big man trait and attitude. We will show tips and techniques that allow upper weights and heavyweights to accomplish their goals.

You will wrestle with individuals from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. In the past, we have had wrestlers attend this unique Big Man on Campus Camp from across the country including the states of California, Kansas, South Dakota, Colorado, and Texas.

Campers will be exposed to championship-level techniques presented by successful coaches and wrestlers. They will be asked to take notes on the techniques covered, and there will be a technique review session each evening. Campers will also do a significant amount of live wrestling. Each camper will be assigned to a counselor, and each counselor will be assigned to 10 or fewer campers. As a result, campers will get a lot of one-on-one attention.
