Luther College composer-in-residence Brooke Joyce shares insight on his unique new project "Talking Trees," on Iowa Public Radio's Iowa Arts Showcase with Jacqueline Halbloom at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.
"Talking Trees" is a composition created from recordings of nature available for listeners to enjoy outdoors in Decorah.

For one hour each month Halbloom highlights the efforts and activities of non-profit arts and culture organizations throughout Iowa. Focusing on performing arts organizations, festivals, visual arts organizations, and other cultural centers, Iowa Arts Showcase attempts to shine a light on the contributions of arts organizations to Iowa communities. The program will be posted online, after broadcast, at www.iowapublicradio.org.
Iowa Public Radio’s August Iowa Arts Showcase will also feature an inside peek on the Salisbury Concours d’Elegance with Katie Wengert, director of marketing, and David Baum, co-chair of the Concours committee. The Concours features rare and timeless classic automobiles on display on the grounds of the Salisbury House in Des Moines. General manager Mark North and outreach coordinator Sara Compton will delve into the diverse and exciting line-up for the Stephens Auditorium 2013-14 season. And Jason Weinberger, musical director of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, will talk about the new pieces and guest artists in their 2013-14 season.
