Lynn Ingvalson

Program Assistant, Career Center

Lynn joined the Career Center in July 2004. As a native to the Decorah community, she and her family enjoy the many blessings that Northeast Iowa has to offer (canoeing, tubing, biking, and camping). As the center's full-time Program Assistant, Lynn is the primary point of contact for individuals who call and visit the Career Center.   

Carol Johnston

Assistant Director of Career Development

Carol joined the Career Center staff in 1998 after working for 12 years with Luther's Student Support Services program.  In her position, Carol oversees the career exploration programming coordinated in the Career Center. Furthermore, she works one-on-one with students who are undecided about their career direction, or are uncertain as to what career possibilities exist given their interests, skills, values, and priorities. She is a certified administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII). Carol holds a bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a master's degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato.

Carol works closely with undecided majors and students from the following majors:  Anthropology, Art, Biblical Languages, Dance, Education, Intermedia Arts, Modern Languages, Music,  Religion, Russian Studies, Social Work, Scandinavian Studies,Sociology and Theatre. 

Daniel Marlow

Assistant Director of Experiential Learning

Dan Marlow has over 20 years of experience working with students in higher education.  During this time frame, he has helped students as a coach, teacher, academic adviser and mentor at Northern Illinois University, UNLV, Oregon State University, and Luther College.  His current responsibilities at the Career Center include coordinating the internship program and general career counseling. Dan is a member of the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, where he works with  the Experiential Education Committee. Dan holds a bachelors degree from Luther College and a masters degree from Oregon State University. Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending with his family.

Brenda Ranum

Director of the Career Center

Brenda rejoined the Career Center this year after spending the past year as co-director of the Luther College Nottingham Study-Abroad Program in England with her husband, David Ranum and daughter, Rylea. Brenda first joined the Career Center from 2002 – 2004 serving as the Experiential Learning Coordinator. Prior to coming to Luther College, Brenda worked for Iowa State University (ISU) as a Regional Director for ISU Extension and Outreach (4 years), as a County Director (5 years), and as a Youth Development Specialist (10 years). Brenda brings to Luther her experience networking working with a wide variety of businesses and employers, as well as experience working with students on career development, internship advising, and advising on the job search process. Brenda holds a bachelors and masters degree from Iowa State University. In her spare time you will see Brenda walking or biking with her family around the Decorah area.

Joni Rollinger

Employer Relations Coordinator

Joni joined the Career Center in 1984 and serves as the primary point of contact for all organizations wishing to recruit Luther students. In addition to working one-on-one with both large and small corporations, non-profits, summer camps, and universities, Joni oversees the Mock Interview Program and the Sophomore Shadow Program. In her spare time, Joni can be found "on the go" with her family.
