Luther College offers distinctive academic programs, centers, and resources that provide for greater learning.

Centers

Luther College has established centers to offer expertise and help build community around distinct interest areas. You’ll engage with college centers through events and programing, when planning your study abroad, and when you want to be a part of tackling real-world issues.

Resources

At Luther, learning happens everywhere—in classrooms, student group meetings, ensemble rehearsals, and more. Sometimes you’ll need extra resources to help you dig deeper, and gain more knowledge on the subjects that interest and challenge you.

Preus Library

Preus Library is the academic center of campus. A three-level building, it overlooks what is commonly referred to as the “Library Lawn.” The interior space is Wi-Fi enabled and all three floors have open study areas and private study rooms. This is where you’ll do research for papers, meet classmates for group projects, and study when you need a quiet spot to help you focus.

Research Help Desk

Luther’s Research Help Desk is a resource where librarians can help you:

  • Develop a research strategy for locating information on a topic
  • Locate books and other library material using WorldCat Discovery, the library’s online catalog
  • Use the library’s print and electronic resources
  • Select and evaluate authoritative information sources
  • Find reference resources, including style guides, English and foreign language dictionaries, thesauruses, and current atlases
  • Help you locate journal articles in the library, online in full-text databases, or through Interlibrary Loan
  • Understand library services and policies

You can receive help by completing an online form, email, phone, or visiting the Research Help Desk in person.

Interlibrary Loan

If you can’t find the resources you’re looking for at Preus Library, you can use Interlibrary Loan to find the materials you need and at no cost to you. Visit the Interlibrary Loan FAQ web page for more details.
